Tuesday 20th July - Youth Crime. We are very pleased to have this very experienced police officer who has had several tours of duty in Afganistan. "My name is Marco Schrader and I`m 42 years old. I joined the police in 1985 at the police department of Berlin. Since 1990 I`m working for the police of Lower Saxony. I`m a Chief Inspector in the local CID and Deputy Leader of an investigation unit. We are working against youth crime together with other officials ( court, schools and so on ). In the workshop I will explain our work and start a discussion about youth crime, the reasons and police work."
Wednesday 21st July - Racism. The appearance of neonazis in Germany has changed a lot during the last ten years. Often they can hardly be recognized by an untrained eye. This workshop/presentation introduces certain explicit and non explicit symbols, codes and trademarks, which are used by neonazis - in Germany as well as in other countries - to show their inhumane nationalistic, racist and anti-semitic ideology. Because of the international mixture of the participants of this workshop/presentation it would be very interesting to find out about certain other codes and symbols used by neonazis in the different countries.
Thursday 22nd July - Racism. Since 1983 the non-profit association "Arbeitskreis Stadtgeschichte e.V." (a study group for city history) has undertaken research into the origins of Salzgitter under National Socialism, as well as various themes relating to the immedeate post war period. In 1992 the work at "Gedenkstätte KZ-Drütte" (Drütte concentration camp memorial) developed to one of the main tasks of the association. Educational programms, public events and esperically guided tours inform visitors about the history of the concantration camp in Salzgitter and about the round 3000 men who lived and worked there between 1942 and 1945. Those who did not survive the hard work and the starvation are buried in a cemetery called " Jammertal ".
